Don’t allow anyone to block your blessings

blessings blocker

Some blessings come our way when we least expect it. Others we have been praying for since last year. No matter what they are or when they are received, blessings are gifts from God that shouldn’t be taken for granted. I know, most people do not intentionally waste their blessings. However, there are people in our lives who can get in the way of those things.

Like, the “boyfriend” who shows up with his single woman to a home rental showing. True story: my real estate friend showed a house rental — an older home, with three bedrooms and plenty of yard space for her children. Because it was apparent that the boyfriend would stay there, but didn’t want to be included on the lease, she was denied the home. Clearly, the man was going to play house there: he walked around, asked a bunch of questions, gave critiques that rivaled anything heard on HGTV.

But, he wouldn’t be added to the lease? Why? Most people who refuse to be added to a rental lease do so because their credit is shot or their criminal history is literally one for the books. Now, this isn’t me being judgy, but what kind of man can support a woman with children when his credit is that bad? And he might still be involved in some criminal activity, too?

Girl, stop.

Why would she allow him to block her blessing? Why would anyone let their loved ones block them? Love, perhaps.

You or someone you know might be guilty of loving a blessing blocker. Simply ask the following questions to find out:

Can you do bad by yourself?
What’s worse than struggling? Having someone else struggling with you. And I don’t mean two college graduates struggling on there first ‘real jobs”. I mean the woman with children and a boyfriend who might engage in criminal activity. If you don’t need any help doing bad, you might have to add better people to your life.

Are you always looking for your breakthrough?
That breakthrough came and went when you turned down a lunch date with an executive because “so-and-so” warned that he or she is tough to work with. Little did so-and-so know, that tough worker was the key to you reaching a higher tax bracket before the year ends. Thanks, blessing blocking co-worker.

Did you gain anything by losing certain people?
There is much to be said about surrounding yourself with people who will uplift you. If you find yourself being exposed to the unthinkable — in a good way! — chances are you had to lose a few people along the way. Like, the girl from high school you used to clown around with. (You ladies are in your 40s now and the clown act is no longer cute!) Or, the jealous ex who didn’t allow you to go anywhere without him. He has been replaced with an actual husband who encourages you to see the world with your girls!

The thing about blocking-blessers, is that you might not even know they are in your lives. Therefore it is important you ask the above questions before another opportunity goes missing.
