If you have been working hard at your craft, the idea of becoming a successful business owner can seem far-fetched at times. After all, we only see a handful of self-employed professionals actually making it, right?
It’s like hoping for something that you know might not happen to you. For some reason, you might believe you just don’t have that “it factor”. Scary to think that all your hard work could be a waste of time.
The good news is, everyone – including you – can find success in anything pursued.
The fact is, success is a choice. This is not a line or catchphrase to evoke a feel-good type of response. It’s the truth. According to a study, there are skills, talents, and characteristics that most of us possess that are found in successful people.
There’s hope for us all! We know what we’re skilled at. We know our talents. But what are the characteristics of the success that we possess? Read on to discover how we are more like the cream of the crop than not. There are at least three things every successful person has in common with you:
They have a vision
I just know you have visions of making more money, being a better spouse and being healthier.
So do the successful. One thing I realize about the latter group, they stay focused on their visions, no matter what. Many of us – myself included! – tend to get distracted sometimes. The reason why the visions of the successful are, well, successful, is they stay focused. Choose to stay focused on your vision.
They have a plan in place
Even if you don’t create a business plan (which I highly recommend but I digress!) you have got to be kidding me if you think you can wing it when it comes to becoming successful. It’s not enough to have a vision, create a plan. All winning teams follow a plan. Those in the military, when they go to battle, they have a plan. The college student who lands a job right after graduation? She had a plan! Choose to create and act on a plan.
They have knowledge/training
Visions and plans are a great start towards success, but you have to know what you’re getting into. You have to know the ins-and-outs of your business – before your competition does! Today, between YouTube, online college and your Kindle, there is no reason for you not to learn something new today. It could mean the difference between success and failure, and if it leads to failure that in itself is a teachable moment! Choose to learn something.
As we all are human, there are many similarities between the successful and those who might not be where they want to be in life. The three characteristics listed above can be had by all and it will lead to success in life. The proof is seen on TV and social media each day. Although it seems unattainable, a vision, a plan, and education are closer than you’d think. By reading this article alone, you’re getting closer to success. Congratulations!
